Our ingredients are 100% organic. Why? Many of the toxins we absorb into our bodies come from the food we eat. Non-organic foods are laden with chemicals and pesticides that stick around even after a good wash. These harsh chemicals enter our system, accumulate over time, and wreck havoc on our bodies. IT’S COPASSIONATE It is estimated that around 140 billion land and sea animals are killed for food each year. That works out to around 200 animals per person. In addition to this, there are billions of calves and male chicks that are killed each year as “waste products” of milk and dairy production. The conditions of factory farms are appalling and becoming harder to ignore. Sentient, intelligent animals are often kept in cramped and filthy conditions where they cannot move around or perform their natural behaviors. They are fed an unnatural diet of soy, corn, pesticides, antibiotics and hormones so that they may grow or produce milk or eggs at a far greater rate than their bodies are capable of coping. This unnatural diet combined with unnatural living conditions leads to sickness and disease of the animals and a miserable life. Regardless of how they were raised, all animals farmed for food meet the same cruel fate at the slaughterhouse. If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian. Growing plants takes far less precious resources like land, food and water than raising livestock. With water and land becoming scarcer globally, world hunger increasing and planet’s population rising, it is simply no longer sustainable for human beings to eat so much meat and dairy. Consider that the livestock industry uses 33% of the Earth’s ice-free land mass and the equivalent of 7 football fields of land is bulldozed worldwide every minute to create more room for farmed animals. Livestock grazing is the number one reason that plant species become threatened or go extinct and it also leads to soil erosion and eventual desertification that renders once-fertile land barren. The livestock industry is also responsible for 8% of global human water consumption, 18% of global greenhouse gas emissions and most of the pollution in groundwater and rivers comes from animal waste from massive feedlots and factory farms. While factory farms are ruining our land, commercial fishing methods have virtually emptied millions of square miles of ocean and pushed many marine species to the brink of extinction. Commercial fishing boats indiscriminately puss as many fish as they can out of the sea, leaving ecological devastation and the the bodies of nontarget animals in their wake.
Science now proves that cooking not only destroys vitamins, phytonutrients, antioxidants and enzymes, but creates mutagens, carcinogens, and free radicals and that destroy our health. When foods are heated above around 118°, their natural nutrients and enzymes begin to break down. Enzymes are necessary to break down food so the body can assimilate the vitamins and minerals in food. If not enough enzymes are present in your diet, your body has to use its own enzymes for digestion. After a cooked meal, most people will feel their energy drop, sometimes to a point of needing a nap. What this means is that the body needs time to break down the foods that are devoid of enzymes and this takes extra energy. Many of our ingredients are locally sourced. Most fruits and veggies from foreign countries travel long distances to get here. They are picked green, treated with chemicals to induce maturation and change their color, and irradiated (exposed to radiation to kill off microbes so they can stay fresh long enough to make it to your mouth). Eating local allows the food to go from the farm to your plate in a shorter amount of time, allowing it to ripen before being picked. It’s fresher, has more antioxidants and just tastes better.
The body absorbs nutrients best from fresh juices. Although plants are full of healthy stuff, these nutrients are bound to fibrous tissues contained within the cellulose walls. By making juice out of produce, you break down the cellulose, releasing the compounds and making them available for absorption. Heat and oxidation produced by using conventional juicers destroy much of the vital nutrients. Our process eliminates this. First we grind the produce into a fine pulp. Then we apply thousands of pounds of pressure to the pulp, extracting every ounce of juice possible. This fastidious method, as time consuming and expensive as it may be, generates the most nutritious juice available.
